Primark lands in Italy with its first store and opens in the largest shopping center of Europe – Project Management signed by GSP Italia.

The 14th of April  2016 the first Italian Store of Primark, the famous Irish clothing giant, opened with a party in great style.

Inaugurating its store in the new shopping center “Il Centro” in Arese, Primark has brought to Italy its diverse range of clothing and products for keeping up with the latest fashion at amazing prices.

The store covers two floors and covers an area of over 6,500 sq m. There are 2 passenger lifts, 2 good & services lifts, 2 escalators, over 60 dressing rooms and almost 50 cash counters. Inside you find clothes, home ware, accessories, stationery, beauty products and confectionery.

For Primark, which operates worldwide in the retail sector, a changing industry known for its intensive competition, each store is unique and the one of Arese is no exception. In the store, the distinguishing, fresh and original style of Primark and Italian Fashion had to match perfectly. This request had to be both included and reflected in Planning and Construction.

The Planning and Construction required a flexible and dynamic team, used to work in international environments and according to Anglo-Saxon approaches around project management. At the same time, however, the team had to be well established in the Italian territory, know all about local laws, regulations, language and customs.

Only in this way, the ambitious goal could be achieved: to open the first Italian Primark on the inauguration day of “Il Centro”, without compromising quality or increasing the defined costs.

A Project Management Team of GSP Italia, made up of approximately 10 professionals, was in charge of the coordination of all phases of the project following Project Management activities, Cost Control, Direction of Works as per Italian Law, Health & Safety Management.

The Management of GSP Italia tells: ” We are very pleased with the outcome which surely is also the result of our skills, experience and our specific project management approach. But, like every Primark store is unique, also every project is unique. You need a team that is used to work together and able to be well-organised, dynamic and flexible at the same time. You need people skilled to manage the constant communication between all various international players involved, and talented professionals to find timely solutions, to read and anticipate the needs of the Clients and carry out, carefully and continuously monitoring time and development costs.

It is in this way that we succeeded all together to open the first Italian Primark Store respecting the tight time schedule”.
